Before a patient can have dental implants placed, a consultation with Dr. Jacobs is your opportunity to get a professional recommendation and to learn about what options might be right for you.
During the consultation, Dr. Jacobs will carefully examine your oral health and provide you with several options that can transform your smile. We realize that healthcare isn’t a “one size fits all” business, and we are really interested in getting to know you and what has motivated you to improve your lifestyle. By the end of the consultation, you should expect to have a written estimate that can work for you and a treatment plan specific to your needs.
Excellence in dental implants combines experience, skill, and technology to provide precise results. That’s the approach we take at our office and the magnificent results our patients achieve reflect our process.
The steps we take to ensure a positive result include:
1. Supplemental Procedures – For some patients, having dental implants placed can be complicated by the condition of the jawbone or gums. Using supplemental procedures such as bone grafting and soft tissue augmentation allows us to restore these structures to the point where implant placement is possible.
2. Placement Surgery – During this process, an implant fixture is placed in the empty socket of the jawbone left behind by the missing tooth. Dr. Jacobs may choose to attach an abutment and temporary replacement tooth to the implant fixture. Once in place, the area will be stitched up so the healing can begin.
3. Recovery Period – This period lasts anywhere from three to six months, during which a process called osseointegration occurs. Osseointegration is a biological process that allows the jawbone to fuse to the biocompatible titanium implant fixture. The success of this process defines the results of the entire implant system.
4. Restoration – Following the healing and osseointegration of your implant fixture, we can provide restorations using dental crowns, bridges, and dentures, depending on your needs. The restoration will be custom-made to match your natural teeth.
Dental implants are incredibly precise because they are such a comprehensive solution to tooth loss. Strong, stable, and long-lasting, implants replace missing teeth starting at the root.
